We are looking for new singers to help lead the worship at St John’s

All are welcome and the ability to read music is not a pre-requisite.

If you feel you could help, please contact me and I’ll give you an idea of what is involved (or read our FAQs below)

In particular, it would be really good to have some younger singers (say aged 8 upwards). In the not too distant past, we had a number of junior members in the choir, and it would be great to build up those numbers again. If there is interest then we could organise a separate singing group of young people.

Let me know if you are interested

Frequently asked questions

What’s the commitment?

We sing once a week at our morning service except on the third Sunday when there is no choir. We also sing at occasional weddings (for which there is a fee payable!) and some special events such as our Carol Service which, this year, will be held on Sunday, December 17th

When do you practise?

We practise at 6.45 on Friday evenings in the Church Room for an hour. If we were to form a separate, junior singing group, we might think about separate rehearsals.

Do I have to come every week?

Obviously, it is really good if all members can attend every week. However, people have other commitments and we recognise that these may mean that some cannot always attend

Do I have to be able to read music?

Obviously, it is a great help, but it is not compulsory and help will be given.

Are there auditions?

NO!

Can I come along to see how it goes?

Of course. Just turn up and see how you find it. I promise you a warm welcome.
