Children and Families are an important part of life at St John’s and All Saints and are welcome to join all of our services. Both churches have child-friendly areas which you can use; (St John’s pictured here with All Saints’ to follow) these contain a selection of toys, books and craft materials which will support your child’s worship. We’ve tried to provide quiet toys, but please don’t worry if your child does make a bit of noise! You’re welcome to use the toys in the area or take them back to your pew.
There are also a number of services and activities that are especially suitable for children, these include:
Kids Church
Kids Church is a fantastic opportunity for children to explore their own faith in a playful way; through stories, songs, games and craft. Kids Church is open to all children and runs on 2nd and 4th Sundays during the 10.15 service; there is a group for Preschool and Key Stage 1 children, and a group for Key Stage 2 and 3 children. Children start in the church service, then leave after the first hymn, and return for communion. Parents are welcome to either leave their children to join with the main congregation or to stay and worship with their children in Kids Church.
All Age Services
Both churches have an All Age Service once a month.
All Saint’s, Landbeach, All Age Service runs on the 1st Sunday of the Month, at 10am.
St John’s, Waterbeach, All Age Service runs on the 3rd Sunday of the Month, at 10:15 am.
All Age Services are a fantastic opportunity for the whole church family to worship together. The services tend to be a bit shorter (maximum 1 hour), music is usually more modern and we aim to actively include children and adults alike!
Babies
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a crèche every week. However, we enjoy having babies worshipping with us and please do not worry if they make a noise! If you do need a quieter area to sit, we have a small room at the back of church, which you are welcome to use. Babies are welcome in Kids Church with a parent or carer. Nappy changing facilities are available and we are always happy to heat up bottles or food if necessary!
Parent and Toddler Groups
St John’s runs Toddler Groups, “Footsteps” on Monday and Friday mornings, from 9:30 – 11:30am in the Church Room. We aim to provide a welcoming, fun, play environment for you and your toddler. Voluntary group leaders are Kirsty Morris and Sarah Edwards (Monday) and Tiffany Langton (Friday) and for each session we ask for a contribution of £1 per family.
Special Events
We enjoy putting on events for children and their families. Examples include; Explore Easter, Explore Advent and the Crib Service. Look out for announcements!
